Mistral Introduces Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn Based SBC

Mistral Solutions, a provider of complete technology solutions and professional services in the embedded space, announced the availability of the rugged Intel (Penryn) Core 2 Duo-based Single Board Computer – the VPX6 1952 from Curtiss Wright.

According to Mistral, the VPX6-1952 is based on the latest processor technology available from Intel, the Intel Penryn processor (on the Montevina platform). Available with embedded video graphics, 4 to 8GB of high-bandwidth SDRAM, the 1952 also comes equipped with a rich I/O complement including dual SERDES Gigabit Ethernet, Integrated Platform Management Interfaces (IPMI), GPIO, Serial channels, USB ports and an XMC site.

Targeted towards the challenging data-processing needs of tactical aircrafts, armored vehicles and harsh environment naval systems, the VPX6-1952 employs the open architecture VITA 46 (VPX) standard. The high-speed performance of the VPX form factor combined with the high-performance of Intel processing makes the 1952 an ideal combination for advanced future combat systems, said the company.

The 1952 is also available in the VITA 48 (VPX REDI) format and in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled environmental build grades.
