Ekinops Sets Up Shop in Singapore

Ekinops, a provider of next generation optical transport,wavelength-division multiplexing(WDM)and aggregation solutions for service providers and enterprise networks, today announced its expansion into Asia, with a first office in Singapore.

Headquartered in Lannion, France Ekinops currently services key clients internationally across multiple segments, from service providers to research networks and enterprise customers.

Its clients include Global Crossing, Agarik (Bull Group), TelemaxX, the Boston Red Sox and the University of Nebraska.

“We have grown very successfully in Europe and in the U.S. but with Asia representing 25 to 30% of the global optical networking market, we see a tremendous and strategic opportunity for Ekinops to expand our customer base into this very high-growth region,” said Mr. Brédy, Chief Executive Officer, Ekinops.

"Singapore’s strategic location, competitive and educated labor force, accessibility to transportation, and good legal framework made it a natural choice for Ekinops’ Asia Pacific base of operations."

Ekinops’ operations in Asia will be headed by Mr. Marc Olivier, a seasoned professional with more than 10 years experience in Asia.

“Broadband growth and industry-wide all-IP transformation is driving the growth for large 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps WDM systems in metro, regional, and long haul infrastructure across the Asia Pacific region. We see this market growing sustainably at more than 20 percent annually,” said Mr. Olivier.

“We believe that Asian customers will be equally enthusiastic about Ekinops’ next generation modular, flexible, and carrier class WDM platform, which will allow them to reduce substantially the cost of deploying and operating their optical network infrastructure."
