The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication or SWIFT, has appointed Charles Legrand as their first Head of South Asia.
Based in Singapore, Legrand will be responsible for the management of SWIFT’s commercial activities in the South Asia-Pacific region, which now consists of the Southeast Asia region, Indian sub-continent region and Oceana, as a result of a recent SWIFT reorganisation.
Legrand brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry.
“Singapore’s reputation as an international financial centre and its strategic location in the Asia Pacific region are the main reasons for its selection as the venue for my appointment,” said Legrand.
“Through the move, SWIFT is confident that we will be able to gain greater regional access as a result.”
SWIFT is an industry-owned co-operative supplying secure, standardised messaging services and interface software to over 8,100 financial institutions in 208 countries and territories. |
