Facebook Launches Storage Service

One of the world’s most popular social networking sites, Facebook has launched an open Data Store API beta programme to offer data storage service to developers.

Though only storage is available right now, nothing is known about the pricing or the capacity.

Facebook’s intention in providing people with storage has more to do with taking away business from Amazon's S3 service and Google's massive user base and popularity.
