Avocent Corporation, a player in the IT Operations Management scene, officially launched its Asia Pacific (AP) regional headquarters (HQ) in Singapore, Tuesday.
The new facility, which houses some 30 employees, will serve as the nerve center for a slew of operations focused at the AP region.
Avocent specialises in IT operations management solutions that aim to reduce operating cost, simplify management and increase the availability of critical IT environments round the clock via integrated, centralized software.
Services that will be offered out of this site include full logistics, maintenance, consulting, operations, sales and on-site support for customers across the region.
Speaking to journalists at the official opening Tuesday Chief Executive Officer, Michael Borman, said the new facility is part of the SGD 14 million Avocent intends to invest in Singapore over the next five years with a focus on building out research and development capabilities to better support the its growing customer base in the region.
The US 600 million dollar company said it reported a 49% increase in growth in the region in the second quarter of this year over the last.
“With fast-growing economies such as India and China, the focus on the needs of Asian customers is key for multinational organisations such as Avocent,” said Bormam.
“We believe the time is right to strengthen our position in the Asia Pacific with a regional headquarters that will be readily accessible to our growing base of customers across the region.”
Whilst Borman ranked China, India and Japan as Avocent’s top three regional growth markets he said the reason behind selecting Singapore to play host as the company’s regional HQ can be attributed to the nation’s business environments, excellent infrastructure and high standards of governance.
Avocent, which currently has a total of 100 employees in the AP region, revealed plans to increase headcounts and expand its operations through both acquisition and organic growth.
One of Avocent’s latest acquisitions took place in July 2008 when it bought over UK based Touchpaper a privately held provider of IT business management solutions, further extending its portfolio of incident management, problem management and service desk capabilities.
“We believe this partnership with Singapore and with the Singapore Economic Development Board will help us grow and strengthen our position within the region,” said Borman.
When asked by SDA Asia on how big a market share Avocent holds in the AP region, Borman declined to give a ballpark figure but stated that the company’s “relatively small” market share just translates to bigger growth opportunities in the coming future.
Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, Avocent has some 2,000 employees with offices in 30 countries. |
