At its recently held Nokia Connection 2007 event, mobility leader Nokia allowed journalists to take a peek into its latest range of devices, solutions, applications and services.

Held in Singapore and bearing the theme “My Connected Life” the day long event saw Nokia executives and invited guests exchange information and ideas on a wide range of topics, including design and technology. Senior executives from the Chief Technology Officer’s (CTO) office, Nokia Research Center, Nokia Design and Multimedia also presented their strategies and solutions in support of Nokia’s mission of taking a very human approach to technology.

“At Nokia our promise continues to be in making people feel close to what matters to them. How we do this is through very human technology and combining simplicity and innovation in brilliant new ways,” said Nokia’s Executive Vice President and CTO Dr. Tero Ojanpera.

“With the new phones and accessories launched…it is clear there is great potential for the industry that is increasingly focused on the ways we experience and share our lives.”

At the event, Nokia showcased three of its latest mobile phones targeted at the mid-range market.

Set to maintain its promise of keeping things simple and making connected mobility more convenient, the expanded portfolio of devices include the Nokia 6267 with enhanced music capabilities, 3G technology that allows faster downloads, internet browsing and video calls. Also making its world debut was the classy, stylish, easy-to-use Nokia 3500, which apart from harboring good looks only offered traditional features. Rounding up the collection was the Nokia 6121 classic with HSDPA technology for faster and easier downloads, internet browsing, video streaming and receiving emails with attachments. The 6212 which supports quadband GSM and WCDMA 900/2100 technology is only available in Australia and New Zealand for the Asia Pacific market.

Concurrent with unveiling its latest mobile range, the Finland based organisation also launched three Bluetooth headsets—the BH-602, BH-803 and BH-604-- boasting innovation such as touch sensitive audio control and Hi-Fi audio quality that can be assessed wirelessly.

Nokia also told journalists that come third quarter of 2007; it will be expanding its local search collaboration in Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand. It will work together with the countries respective key content providers, TM Info-Media (Malaysia), Directories Philippines Corporation (Philippines), Yellow Pages (Singapore) and Teleinfo Media (Thailand Yellow Pages) to provide Nokia Nseries users with up to date local business and service listings in their markets.

Nokia Mobile Search allows consumers a convenient and fast conduit to find and connect to any content they want- may it be on the Internet through local service providers or search engines or already stored in their compatible device- directly from their Nokia phones.

“ Mobile Search as been very well received by users who are hungry for immediate access to information and services, and with these new local service providers onboard, Nokia is bringing more locally relevant content to users on our device,” said Jawahar Kanjilal, Director, Multimedia Experiences, Nokia Multimedia Asia Pacific.

“…now you can search your favourite restaurant all over Asia as you hop from one country to another. You have access to the world’s business listings in your Nokia device.”
